Car must meet and pass NHRA inspection appropriate to your class / speed. Must have helmet to run.
Fee also includes access to the Hot Rod finals occurring after our event!

Here are the rules:
13.99 and quicker must have a SNELL M2000 or newer approved helment.
11.49 and quicker (convertibles running 11.00 to 13.49) must have a roll bar / helment / jacket meeting SFI Spec 3.2A/1
9.99 and quicker or faster than 135MPH must have a NHRA certified roll cage / NHRA competition License / Jacket and Pants meeting SFI Spec 3.2A/1 / gloves meeting SFI Spec 3.3/1. neck collar etc.

Mid Ohio Driver Instruction

The format of the program on September 13th is essentially an abbreviated version of our High Performance Program. Registration/check-in would take place between 8:00-8:30am. We would have a brief classroom session at 8:45am – 9:30am and discuss the physics and dynamics of precision driving. (We have to assume everyone has had minimal training) At 9:30am we would divide the group into three and head to the Vehicle Dynamic Center and practice drills/maneuvers. We would rotate stations every 50 minutes. At the end of the drills, we would take a brief break, participate in a track talk session for safety reasons, and begin our on-track Lead/follow lapping session. The on-track session would be approximately 55 minutes.

The price of the program is $300 per person. We would need a minimum of 10 people from your group/Matt McHenry’s group. All car types are welcome. Convertibles will need to be equipped with a roll bar above the driver’s helmet. Our objective is to teach participants in an introductory high performance driving program with their personal vehicle and let them experience the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

NHRA, producers of popular drag racing show announce agreement to produce media properties

NHRA and producers of the popular drag racing show Pinks, Stephen Pullin and Jack Schaeffer, have agreed to create, develop, and produce media properties, including new racing competitions, new events, and television programs. The first project, NHRA Unleashed, will celebrate pure American horsepower in an interactive festival environment.

Pullin and Schaeffer’s Disrupt/ive Studios and NHRA will explore and develop innovative properties focused on wide-open, wheelstanding, heads-up competition embracing the car enthusiast, the roots of NHRA. NHRA Unleashed is the first of these properties to be staged in 2010, in Atlanta; Indianapolis; Hebron, Ohio; and Gainesville. A schedule of events is listed below. The plan is to expand NHRA Unleashed to other premier drag racing facilities in the United States in 2011.

“We have been working for several months with Stephen, Jack, and the team at Disrupt/ive Studios to create this unique relationship,” said Tom Compton, NHRA president. “We are excited about creating new entertainment media properties and developing entertaining, interactive events aligned with television programming that highlight the foundation of NHRA, the grassroots racer and car enthusiast.”

NHRA Unleashed will provide a fully interactive experience for spectators and participants, embracing a new breed of drag racing enthusiast looking for pure, doorslammer heads-up competition on the track, ranging from the 10.5 Outlaw to the 13-second weekend warrior, and a festival environment off the track. At an NHRA Unleashed event, everyone and everything is part of the show, which will feature heads-up, no-index racing on the track; interactive events, including Kart Track and Autocross activities; and the traditional car show, car/parts swap meet, and car corrals. The drag racing format on the track will have the sole purpose of highlighting competition for the pure heads-up grassroots competitors in the country, vying for the coveted Wally trophy. Each event will be as much a regional happening as it will be a drag racing event and will include exhibition runs by a variety of race vehicles.

“We want to develop events and broadcast programs that capture the sport, lifestyle, culture, and original brand of NHRA Drag Racing,” Pullin said. “We believe the NHRA Unleashed event embodies everything we are looking to create jointly, a celebration of pure American horsepower.”

Further details on NHRA Unleashed will be announced later in January. In addition, NHRA and Disrupt/ive Studios intend to make announcements in the coming months about additional creative ideas and proposals currently in the planning process.

The Ames Performance Tri Power Pontiac Nationals is held every year at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio. We had 468 race cars, 464 show cars and 169 swap vendors using 311 spaces at the 2009 event. 2010 will be our 19th Annual event.

The event is 3 days of Drag racing, a 2 day Car show and a 2 day Swap meet. We also have a Manufacturer's Midway, Cars for sale area, and the Ames Performance Buffet on Saturday night for the Race, Show, and Swap participants. Plus Ames Performance also provides a Shuttle Service to get you around the facility.

In the wake of General Motors’ plans to discontinue the Pontiac marquee, a group of Pontiac Fiero enthusiasts based in Northern Illinois with members across the globe have organized a day to honor the brand that is best known for building excitement!

Jim Hallman, President of the Northern Illinois Fiero Enthusiasts says, “Drive your Pontiac to work, a car show, or to the golf course, it does not matter where, just enjoy it on this day”. He added, “We want Pontiac owners to relive the excitement that General Motors has supported since the inception of the Pontiac brand. This is our way of saying thanks to GM”.

The Colorado guys are going to be coming out for this one as BSP is going to run special pricing for tunes (not dyno pulls) for those guys as an introductory offer.

Dyno day is a go for May 22nd.
Starts at 10am and will go until we are done!

Prices will be $50 for three pulls and $60 if you want Air Fuel Ratios.

They will also be offering special pricing on full dyno tunes if you schedule now through May 22nd. Some tuning will be able to be done on the dyno day by schedule.

Well with spring quickly approaching its time to get into gear, no pun intended, hahaha.a buddy and i have a car club called canton lsx, with the rate that it was growing, we decided to have an ohiolsx, and have smaller chapters for each town, cantonlsx, akronlsx, cbuslsx, ect. well we have grown significantly. close to 70 members now, and we are starting to prepare for our first gathering. After talking it over with some people, we decided to go with a dyno day/cruise/show. The dyno shop we have chosen is dyno tune motorsports, we have set a date, April 10, 2010, it is a saturday, we are hoping to get started around 10 oclock. As far as the dyno time and pricing will go, we are going to offer 3 pulls, air-fuel/boost, and for those who have an lsx series, we are also offering data logging. all for just $50!! if we gain enough intrest, and enough people show up, we will be giving away prizes for highest horsepower, highest tourque, best of show ect. ect. We will have a cookout throughout the day, as well as some other activities. After we get done with the dyno/show, we will be cruising to a spot in columbus that has yet to be announced(i need some of you columbus guys to give us some ideas for this). hopefully everything will go smoothly, and we wont have any hiccups. So let us hear your input on all of this, we do this all for you guys!!! we are 100% non profit and do it all for the enjoyment!!!! ANY GM muscle welcome to attend. (gm powered, hybrids swaps included) thanks!!!!
